The Chilapata Forest is located near the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary in Dooars and is easily accessible from the town of Hasimara. It is an elephant corridor between the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary and Buxa Tiger Reserve. The forest has a rich population of Indian rhinoceros, along with many other animals and birds.
The Nalraja Garh or the Fort of the Nal kings constructed during the Gupta Dynasty is also located within the forest. Nearby, there are few tea gardens and small streams, where angling can be done. There is an eco-tourism resort at this site which is managed by the West Bengal Forest Development Corporation (WBFDC).
